There are 615 toll plazas and all are implemented with FASTag technology. The Government of India is planning to implement cashless transactions at Toll Plaza. The Government has decided to make it mandatory for all vehicles to have FASTag from 16th February 2021. Failing to do so, you have to pay double the amount at Toll Plaza.

What is FASTag?

FASTag is a RFID-enabled service that is used to make electronic payments at the toll plaza. It is fixed on the windscreen of the vehicles and enables you to pass through the toll without stopping for paying cash. RFID is a Radio-frequency Identification technology rolled out by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It is a part of National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) initiative that comes under the guidelines of  National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Indian Highway Management Company Limited (IHMCL). 
You have to submit the Registration Certificate (RC) of the Vehicle Registration number. 

Charges of FASTag:

The charges of FASTag are nominal. The charges are divided into three parts. You should be aware of the charges of FASTag.
1. Fastag Joining Fee: This is a one-time fee charged only at the first time of the registration to the Fastag. This is only for the activation of Tag for your vehicle. The current fee for this is Rs.100 including applicable taxes.
2.Security Deposit: This is the fee deposit for security purpose and it is very negligible. It is generally refunded to you against at no dues at the closure of the account. The charge depends upon the types of vehicle you have.
3.Threshold Amount: It is the minimum amount applicable at the time of tag activation. It also depends upon the type of vehicle. The Threshold amount can be zero.

Documents Required to recharge Airtel FASTag:

  • Registration Certificate (RC) of your vehicle
  • Passport Size photo of the vehicle owner.
  • KYC document as per the type of vehicle.
  • ID proof and Address proof 

How to recharge Airtel FASTag?

You can recharge Fastag with Airtel Payment Bank. It is very simple to use and activate and enable automatic deduction of toll charge from your wallet or your link bank account. The first time you have to recharge with a minimum amount of Rs.450 including One Time Charge and Security Deposit.

Step 1: Register to Airtel Payment Bank with mobile no. and proof of identity.

Step 2: After you have register, Login and Go to NETC FASTag section.

How to recharge Airtel FASTag

Step 3: Enter Vehicle Registration number and Upload Vehicle RC photo.

Step 4: Pay the minimum amount and your FASTag recharge will be successful.

If you are facing any problem at the Toll Plaza, then you can contact the Airtel FASTag Helpline number for your issue to be solved out. The Customer care no. for Airtel FASTag is 400 or 8800688006. You can even dial 1033 for the complaint to NHAI or IHMCL helpline.
The issue can be:
  • Plazza not accepting FASTag
  • Plazza not able to scan FASTag
  • Stopped at the Plazza for tag backlist even your tag is not backlisted
  • Any other reason
